What is Music Therapy?
Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional (MT-BC) who has completed an approved music therapy program (AMTA, 2025). Music Therapists use music interventions such as singing, instrument play, songwriting, and more to reach non-musical goals. Goals can include social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and psychological.
Music is an accessible and fun way to work towards one’s goals. You may have experienced the power of music to lift your mood or make you feel more connected to others. Music Therapists utilize the innate healing nature of music to encourage growth in all of those we work with.
